This workshop will engage participants in a discussion of the gender socialization experienced by man-identified students, including the ways that toxic masculinity contributes to social concerns such as substance abuse, educational disengagement, mental illness, interpersonal violence, and self-harm – and what we as educators can do about it. Participants will unpack some of the constructs that inform our students' gender socialization, then use that information to reflect on the specific needs present in the man-identified students with whom we work.
