Michigan needs your design thinking! We need insights from students and teacher leaders, college and university faculty, and business and industry representatives to create the next generation of Talent Transcripts! In this highly interactive workshop, participants will provide key insights in designing an effective Talent Transcript program for the State of Michigan. The desired result will be an “open” transcript system that allows students to design personal paths through the State's academic requirements for high school graduation and choose from a variety of in-school, after-school, and out-of-school, unique learning experiences that establish the deeper learning competencies—combinations of knowledge, skill, and experience—needed for lifelong career success. The workshop will be facilitated by Project Director Bruce Umpstead and Angelina Zeller, Phillip Jankowski, Ph.D., and Jay Kulbertis, Ed.D., who are board members of the Michigan Center of Innovation in Education (CIE). Participants will gain valuable insights in how transcript and record stems need to change to effectively represent Deeper Learning competencies and walk away with prototype designs to test in their own schools and communities.
