Building a Culture of Transformative Leadership FULL

Limited Capacity full

Today’s leadership calls for a laser focus on learning outcomes. While this may not sound radical, scratch the surface and it reveals just how transformational this kind of leadership must be. Leadership for learning takes first and foremost a student-centered perspective. Building a learning community focused on each individual students’ learning success entails establishing a culture in which each student is valued, understood, and has agency and support as they stretch towards their individual potential. This culture can only be sustained if the educators within the learning community are themselves valued, understood, and have agency and support to stretch toward their own potential as professionals. And such a learning community can only soar if it is bolstered by the structures and resources necessary to maintain the level of continuous improvement and capacity building over time. JFF and CCSSO have been working on a project in partnership with several other organizations, states leaders, and educators to develop a set of leadership competencies for transformational leaders in personalized, learner-centered learning environments. Join us as we discuss the implications of these Competencies for leaders within and beyond the deeper learning network. Participants in this session will be among the first to work with and provide feedback on the finished competencies, which are not scheduled for public release until Summer 2017.
