How do we empower students to take charge of their education? In education, we often find ourselves speaking TO families about students instead of WITH students. Student Led Conferences (SLC) are a powerful opportunity to shift the traditional teacher and parent talk about student performance. When students lead the conversation they have the opportunity to reflect and own their learning. In order for this meaningful conversation to occur, educators must provide frameworks to guide students in reflecting on their successes and challenges and the contributing factors in order to be proactive in the future. In this workshop, attendees will participate in an SLC, view frameworks to support quality conferences run by students, and begin developing their own framework.
