Whether we are working with primary or secondary learners, Cooking, Food and Food Science links real experiences with real learning. This is a fun twist on the idea of a maker space! In this session we will share some of our experiences and curriculum we have developed with community partners that investigated the science of food, food sustainability/security and the cultural and socio-economic underpinnings of all food. We are going to use knives, cutting boards, pots and stoves to prepare food as a means to deepen our understanding of its link to our curriculum. While we cook we will explore the ways in which we can take these ideas into our own classroom and share our ideas to learn from each other.
