As more educators are working to bring Deeper Learning to their schools, and are experimenting with new approaches to teaching and learning, they often ask themselves: So, how do I know that I am making progress towards my larger aspirations? Educator innovators have found value in nimble, creative approaches to measuring progress in its early stages. These often uncommon indicators are bite-sized, objective, and real-time moments of creative observation. They are not meant to replace the many efforts that are currently underway to develop rigorous, valuable ways of measuring Deeper Learning competencies, but they might prove to help educators develop confidence, or make adjustments as they work towards changing their schools. We have developed a few prototypes for tools that we will try out in this session, and together work towards their next iteration.
