Michael Lipset graduated as class valedictorian in 2009 from the University of Minnesota's College of Liberal Arts with a BA in both Political Science and the Sociology of Law, Criminology, and Deviance. After graduating he began an academic coaching business called PEP Tutors (Personal Education Professionals) that specialized in pairing mindfulness and mentorship with academic skills and subject-area expertise in service of high school students with learning disabilities. Michael is also a member of The Level Heads, an accomplished hip-hop group that has produced chart-topping records and performed with Grammy winning artists. Michael has worked as a teaching artist and design coach for the world-renowned High School for Recording Arts, producing work for the school that has resulted in two replication efforts and one affiliation partnership currently in the development stages. In 2016, Michael graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education with an Ed.M. in the Arts in Education. While there, he started The Palette, the only podcast covering the arts in education, which has since been adopted by Harvard and is in its second season of production. Today, you can find Michael working on his PhD at McGill University where he is doing research on the development of a model for culturally sustaining comprehensive school reform through hip-hop based education.
